ENTRANS SERVICES
Services Overview
- researching economic, policy and organizational planning issues;
- drafting of concept and discussion papers, submissions, presentation decks, and speeches;
- conducting economic and tax analysis and related policy option development;
- editing of policy and program documents, including contribution agreements;
- supporting managers and human resource professionals in screening and evaluating the skills of candidates for economist positions;
- training for public servants in writing skills through workshops on writing fundamentals and on writing for Ministers; and
- preparing program planning and performance reports for Treasury Board.
The ENTRANS team has extensive knowledge of how policy research and development occurs within the Canadian federal government. With its on-the-job experience in the public service, the ENTRANS team can also recommend strategies for advancing proposals through the policy development process.
Projects for which you should consider ENTRANS include:
- analysis of the environmental impacts of particular technologies/proposals and possible mitigation strategies (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions, air quality)
- assessment of the economic consequences of particular energy and transportation policy and program initiatives
- critical reviews of the experiences of other jurisdictions in the use of incentives and regulations (e.g. renewable energy, regulations on vehicle fuel efficiency, incentives for research and development)
- preparation of position papers to investigate/support particular proposals
- preparation of (or advice on) pre-budget submissions
- editing
- training of staff in writing skills
- conduct of staffing actions for economist and program manager positions
- researching information sources within government, including obtaining information through the Access to Information process
- organization and management of stakeholder outreach initiatives
- advice to/training courses for developing countries on establishing and maintaining analytical capacity in the public sector.
